Can't wait for FIOS!

I'm on the phone with Verizon again trying to find out if and when FIOS will come to North Stoughton, Massachusetts, 02072!

So this time the CSR informed me that the delay isn't caused by location, but instead by the fact that the Cabot Place buildings are multiple dwelling units (MDUs), which are harder to wire than single family units. Following up on that tip reveals a lot. Last March of 2006, Verizon issued plenty of press releases about how they were starting to wire up MDUs (probably in response to the bad press that they were only wiring affluent towns, which don't have many MDUs). Now its over a year later, still no FIOS here. I did find this interesting blog run by Verizon:

Verizon Policy Blog

This blog also showed up: http://verizonlineman.blogspot.com/ where I asked for advice:

I am in Stoughton, MA, but I would love to get FIOS here. Our town was approved and is mainly wired with FIOS, but I'm in an MDU. What do you suggest? The MDU is an office condo with about 8 different businesses, and there are 6 MDUs all together. Thanks!
So I've connected with a few people at Verizon and I feel like I'm slowly making progress, at least to find out the status of FIOS in our area. Not only does the fact that we're multiple dwelling units delay fios for us, but so does the fact that we're commercial multiple dwelling units. Ugh.

I tried to answer your FiOS MDU installation question on my blog. I hope it helps. Again, Verizon loves MDUs because one MDU installation provides service to multiple customers all at once. Good Luck and enjoy it...I already know you will.
